A Word About MAPS

Through all of the themes running in the heart of Maps - love and loves past and present, children and family, exploration and wild nature - there is a consistent creative thread to the music that is calling for you all to pull at.

It stands as a voice for all those bedroom poets who have dreamed. For those who years ago packed away one set of dreams to follow another but occasionally wondered. It speaks of that moment of vulnerability where we face down the world creatively. Being young is to be bulletproof. Getting older is not for the faint hearted - it takes guts and bravado to admit that we are older but no wiser - just better liars. Often only to ourselves.

For good or for bad this album has been an epic challenge and a beautiful battle with myself, artistic ego (me also), finances, skill deficits and time constraints. The support I have received from every direction has been humbling.

What you hold here is a set of songs that is designed to be both a moment in time and a momento. It’s both record, teacher and motivator for what I have learnt and what l am learning still.

As it turns out, from here in the middle, theres still a lot to say. And a long way to go. What we all need are some MAPS.
