maybe what we need are better MAPS

    Maps

    The Album

MAPS is an album shaped by memory, landscape and the quiet turning points that define us.

Across its songs run themes of love and regret, past and present, family, childhood, exploration, wild nature and stillness. Beneath it all lies a creative thread — a call to keep pulling at what still stirs beneath the surface.

These are songs for the bedroom poets who once dreamed loudly, and for those who packed one set of dreams away to pursue another — only to find those earlier voices still whispering.

MAPS explores the vulnerability of creative adulthood: the moment when we realise youth is not invincibility, and growing older requires courage of a different kind. It is about facing ourselves honestly — admitting we are not necessarily wiser, just more practiced at disguise — and choosing to speak anyway.

Written through challenge and persistence, the album became both confrontation and reconciliation — a reckoning with ego, doubt, limitation and time. What emerged is a body of work that feels both intimate and expansive: reflective, yet quietly defiant.

MAPS stands as a document of becoming — a record of where we have been, what we have learned, and the questions that remain. As life unfolds, it is easy to feel unanchored, to wonder whether we have lost our way or our voice.

    This album suggests otherwise.

There is still ground to cover.
There is still something to say.

Sometimes what we need are simply new maps

London based guitarist, performer and songwriter Weston Day realeases his first collection of songs straight to vinyl on October 31st 2025.

This selection of nine songs, Maps, guides you through the fruitful musical landscape that has grown from Weston’s live performances in the last 2 years. Born out of the roots of folk and country, the solid melodic vocal style is underpinned by the deeply resonant 8-string Baritone Guitar creating a warm and unique sonic landscape. Add in a flavour of late 80s / early 90s ballads just to pepper the experience and you may end up somewhere close to the Weston Day sound.

Underlying the lyrics are themes of missing, unrequited love, family and hope - all thinly wrapped in a tissue of myths and weather references. Overarching this is a sense of travel - both in terms of time and location - couple this with a blend of English countryside imagery, mythical allusions, and the power of nature that threads through  the whole album capturing a unique moment in time.

There is undoubtedly more to reap from this musical landscape and, with a second album already underway for 2026, that will surely happen.
