    WESTON DAY

Weston knows a thing or two about tunes. He grew up playing guitar in the family home surrounded by folk, blues, country and radio pop. This strange mix maybe explains the crossover blend of acoustic based folk and eighties pop infusion. Sprinkle in a touch of myth and mystic juxtaposed with real world experience and you are starting to get close. These are tales of people, cinematic skies and natures god-like power woven with tunes like fishhooks - they get under the skin and dig right in. Held together with raw vocals and an eight string baritone guitar this music has a campfire punk rock spirit at heart.

Drawing influence from the unpolished reality of Johnny Flynn and the soulful intensity of Hozier, alongside the lyrical precision of Elvis Costello, Weston Day goes in search of something honest - he is an appreciator of the practiced - those that can deliver a message live without recourse to atmospherics. He is also an appreciator of fine songwriting - that studied blend of lyrical precision and a well constructed musical landscape. For those that haven’t seen him live before this music is acoustic at its core, yet with a sense of scale and grandeur and you may even find yourself singing along to something that feels quietly anthemic. Be careful in case those fishhooks get you.

This is British songwriting at its finest – literate, emotionally intelligent, musically assured ~ Indie Dock
